Jewson – Major Build Solutions, a leading building materials distributor in Northern Europe, is on the hunt for a Yard/Warehouse Operative to join the team in our Durham distribution site who is as passionate about great service as we are!

Hours: Monday-Friday. Shifts are either 6am-3:30pm or 8:30am-6pm – candidates must be able to work between 6am-6pm

Key Responsibilities
Our Yard Operatives are an integral part of the distributions team at Jewson Major Build Solutions. Ensuring efficiency and accuracy stock handling and management contributes to the overall success of the operation.
- Pick and prepare customer orders, load and unload customer and supplier vehicles using MHE (forklifts and side loaders), minimising manual handling (MHE re-training provided if required)
- Split timber loads and pick approved materials for mill processing
- Check incoming deliveries and report missing or damaged products, ensuring all documentation is completed
- Maintain general housekeeping of the yard and warehouse areas
- Work as part of an organised team, contributing to the overall efficiency of the site operations
- Perform regular stock checks and follow stock rotation procedures
- Make Health & Safety a priority and demonstrate how you can keep yourself and others safe at work

Required Skills and Experience
- Previous industry experience preferred but not essential
- Forklift and sideloader experience is preferred however in-house training is provided
- Confident working both indoors and outdoors and in manual handling
- A positive and proactive attitude to work
